Biography

Jason RasoJason Raso continually unwraps little gifts to the listener, as he explores a variety of phrasing and lays down a groove so deep that you need a miner's lamp to find your way.

If it can be played on the bass, Jason Raso is your man: from jazz to blues and on down the line into funk and latin, he's got a handle on it. Jason's five solo albums ("The Bassman Cometh" - 2001, "Live on Planet Bop" - 2002, "Detour" - 2005, "An Abominable Christmas" - 2006, and "Time Pieces" - 2007) showcase his strong melodic sense, extraordinary technique, and innate ability to lay down a groove. Jason's bass influences include Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke, Charles Mingus and Jaco Pastorius.

No stranger to the live music scene, Raso has close to 400 gigs under his belt. Jason has performed extensively with guitar virtuoso Adrian Raso, R&B outfit Passenger, as well as numerous solo projects. With The Jason Raso Trio, he plans to see that number rise.

Enio DiRetoWhen the light shines on him, Enio DiReto steps up and blazes the kit, then returns us to a comfortable pulse, seamlessly.

Enio DiReto took an interest in the drums at the tender age of seven. He would tag along to many of his fathers gigs. (Enio’s father is a sax player) At those gigs he would sit along side the drummer in awe. By the time Enio was twelve, the same drummer he had watched for years had become his teacher. Enio studied with Nick Macerollo for five years, learning many different styles and techniques. Enio’s influences include drummers such as Mitch Mitchell, Dave Weckyl, Stewart Copeland, Gregg Bissonette, Nate Smith, Tito Puente, Lenny White and Billy Martin. Enio is best known for known for his eclectic style and mystic energy behind the kit. He also displays strong technique and an incredible sense of dynamics. Enio’s recording credits include Jason Raso’s “Live on Planet Bop” – 2002, and “Detour” – 2005.

Rob HannamRob Hannam demonstrates delicate nuances of melody and harmony while displaying a rolling rhythmic sense. You can't help but feel there is something wild pacing underneath his control.

Rob Hannam joins the trio on keyboard. Rob’s interest in jazz piano dates back to his start with a high school jazz quartet – it was there that the love of jazz standards and the piano took root. After a hiatus from music for a number of years, he has gradually re-entered the local music scene and has been playing in several formats including a jazz/pop duo with sax player Brent Rowan, and with a five-piece group called The GMO’s.

Rob’s piano influences cover a wide range of styles from Bill Evans and Chick Corea, to Billy Joel, Aaron Davis and Diana Krall. His style combines a strong rhythmic feel with tasteful melodic elements. He’s also been known to step out from behind the piano and reach for his left-handed guitar, which he has added to his musical repertoire in recent years. Rob’s recording credits include a demo release by The GMO’s (2004) and his own piano/vocal demo entitled “Southcreek Sessions” (2006).

Together these experienced musicians form a top notch trio, featuring Raso originals, classic cover songs, and over the top improvisations.  Performing a blend of jazz, blues, funk and rock, The Jason Raso Trio are an unstoppable force.  Instrumental music has rarely been this intoxicating
